Aus dem süditalienischen Bari kommt Sängerin Paola
Arnesano. Sie hat auf dieser CD ihre musikalische Reise durch
verschiedene musikalische Terrains , auf denen sie bereits
experimentiert hat, zusammengefasst: Jazzstandards, aber auch
auf italienische Schlager basierende Melodien oder Eigenkompositionen
wie „Defrá“, eine Hommage an ihren Onkel
Donato, der starb, bevor diese CD eingespielt werden konnte.
Paola Arnesano überzeugt hier mit den Fähigkeiten,
die sie in Italien bekannt gemacht haben: ihre eindringliche
Stimme, ihre geschmackvollen Interpretationen, ihre beeindruckende
Musikalität. Begleitet wird sie von einem der interessantesten
jüngeren italienischen Pianisten: Dado Moroni. Der 1962
in Genua geborene Moroni, startete seine professionelle Karriere
bereits mit 14 Jahren und gilt inzwischen als einer der elegantesten
europäischen Jazzpianisten. Moroni hat mit zahlreichen
namhaften Jazzmusikern aus Europa und den USA gespielt, so
mit Clark Terry, Jon Faddis, Ed Thigpen, Ron Carter, Grady
Tate, George Robert, Tom Harrell, Lee Konitz, Al Grey, Lewis
Nash, Ray Brown, Reggie Johnson.

Paola Arnesano comes from Bari/South Italy. On this CD, her
“musical itinerary” of the diverse musical terrains
of which she has already experienced is summarized: Jazz standards,
popular italian tunes and compositions of her own like “Defrá”,
which remembers to her uncle Donato, who passed away before
being able to listen to this CD. Paola Arnesano convinces
here again with the abilities she became famous in Italy:
her impressive voice, her elegant taste and her incredible
“elephant-like” musical ears! She is accompagnied
on this CD by one of the most interesting young italian piano
players: Dado Moroni. Moroni, who was born in Genoa in 1962,
has been playing piano professionally since the age of 14
and has come to be regarded as one of the finest European
jazz pianists. He has toured and recorded extensively with
many of the leaqding contemporary American and European jazz
musicians such as Clark Terry, Jon Faddis, Ed Thigpen, Ron
Carter, Grady Tate, George Robert, Tom Harrell, Lee Konitz,
Al Grey, Lewis Nash, Ray Brown, Reggie Johnson.
