Hampton und Milt Jackson machten das Vibraphon im Jazz populär.
Aber es war Gary Burton, der in den 60er Jahren das Vibraphonspiel
revolutionierte, indem er das Spiel mit vier Schlegeln anstatt
von zwei einführte. Das bedeutete, dass nun Akkorde gespielt
werden konnten. Seltsamer Weise hat sich kaum jemand seither
getraut, diesen Aspekt in einem Trio umzusetzen. Das junge
Züricher Trio „Vibes Inter Play“ hat nun
diese Lücke geschlossen. Auf dieser CD, ihrer ersten
gemeinsamen CD, spielen die drei transparenten, intimen „kammermusikalischen“
Jazz voller fesselnder Stimmungsbilder und Tonfarben.

Hampton and Milt Jackson gave the vibraphone ist voice in
jazz. But it was Gary Burton who, in the sixties, revolutionised
the instrument introducing the technique of playing with four
sticks as opposed to just two. This meant that chords were
now possible. Curiously, it seems that almost nobody since
has dared venture to include this aspect of the vibraphone
in a trio. The jazz trio „Vibes Inter Play“, from
Zurich, have now filled this gap. In this CD, their first
recording together, they play transparent, intimate „chamber
music“ jazz that oozes with captivating moods and tone-colours.
